BMW just unleashed details of the all-new 2011 BMW X1 xDrive28i TwinPower Turbo for Europe. The all-new 2011 BMW X1 xDrive28i will offers a new 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine which makes use of TwinPower turbo technology, the new 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine will be replacing the current 3.0-liter six-cylinder models.
The new engine also receives the latest in BMW’s twin-scroll turbocharging system, double-VANOS variable camshaft timing, High Precision Injection direct petrol injection as well as VALVETRONIC variable valve timing. The specifications and elegant features of the engine might be a mouthful, however all in all the end result justifies all these technical terms.
BMW claims that the new 2.0-liter engine will be able to push out 180kW of power along with 350Nm of torque. The new 180 kW/245 hp powerplant also offers reduced fuel consumption and emissions. The average fuel consumption in the EU was only 35.7 mpg imp with CO2 emissions of 183 grams for a single kilometer.
The BMW X1 xDrive28i is also all-wheel drive, which helps the car to achieve sports-car like acceleration times; 0-100km/h (62 mph) sprint time in just 6.1 seconds (manual) and 6.5 seconds (automatic). That was 0.7 seconds of improvement (0.3 seconds for automatic mode) over the previous model.
BMW has not yet announced the car’s release date but speculations expect this new model to come some time later this year.
