Mini’s latest creation is a new SD model which just so happens to be the company's most powerful diesel Cooper ever, and yet another reason the Mini Cooper is very very popular.
Under the hood, the Mini Cooper SD comes with a 2.0-liter four-cylinder turbodiesel engine that produces an impressive 143 hp at 4,000 rpm plus a peak torque of 225 lb-ft. This impressive figure leaves the other diesel models in the Cooper family in the dust since the Cooper D only produces around 112hp, while the Cooper One D only produces 114hp.
Mini will be offering the SD trim level to diverse Mini models, such as the Cooper, Cooper Convertible, Clubman, as well as Countryman models. The Mini Cooper SD will be making its appearance at the 2011 Geneva Motor Show with shipping beginning shortly thereafter. Unfortunately, Mini has yet to determine whether the diesel SD will be landing to the stateside or not.
