Aston Martin revealed the new Vantage GT3 for replacing the current DBRS9 racer. The race car is based on the V12 Vantage road car and is geared towards up for the 2012 racing season alongside Vantage GT2, GT4, DBR9 GT1 as well as the AMR-One LMP1.
And just like the V12 Vantage, the new Vantage GT3 will also be powered by a lightweight dry-sumped 6.0 litre V12 unit that is aimed to develop 600 hp (447 kW / 608 PS) plus 700 Nm (516 lb-ft) of torque. It will be matched to a semi-automatic paddle shift Xtrac gearbox which should make sure the new racer is competitive with newer competitors. The Vantage GT3 is under development, so there is no performance facts and figures available at this point.
The first examples is expected to be ready in July and will undertake an extensive round of testing. Interestingly, Aston Martin will also develop Vantage GT3 customer cars in 2012, but it will be limited to only 10 units.
