According to GMInsideNews, Chevrolet's Impala sedan which was scheduled to receive a complete overhaul in 2013, has been rescheduled for the 2014 model year.
In order to keep the current and elderly Impala passably fresh until its new successor comes, General Motors is reportedly ready to equip the big sedan with its 3.6-liter V6 engine matched with a six-speed automatic transmission. Both the current 3.5- and 3.9-liter V6 powertrains have been canned, and due to the new W-body architecture, using a six-speed automatic transmission to the current engines would not be feasible.
There is no other upgrades are slated for the 2012 model year, but it is expected that the Impala will continue to be a fleet queen until a more decent successor comes.
