Volkswagen just officially announced the coming of its 2012 VW Golf R to the U.S markets. The tuned 2012 Golf R is designed for replacing the Golf R32 that was coming to the U.S. several years ago.
The all-wheel drive 2012 Volkswagen Golf R will be powered by Volkswagen’s new turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine mated with a manual transmission. This turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine will be replacing the VR6 engine which was used on the Golf 32R. Unfortunately, Volkswagen hasn’t revealed performance numbers for this turbocharged engine yet, but judged from comparison with the European model, its power output is around 270 HP plus 258 pound-feet of torque.
In order to give better stability and traction for the power increase, VW will be installing larger disc brakes, an improved sport tuned suspension, 18-inch alloy wheels, as well as sport tuned ESP.
The 2012 VW Golf R will be available in two choices, a two-door or four-door models. Buyers can expect an exclusive features from the 2012 VW Golf R, includes door sills, unique interior trim, exhaust, steering wheel, front and rear fascia, shift knob, as well as R badges. T
