Mazda just unveiled a new special edition model for the Japanese domestic market, that is Mazda RX-8 Spirit R edition which comes in two version. The first model is based on the RX-8 Type RS with a six-speed manual transmission and the second model is based on the Type E with a six-speed automatic transmission.
These special edition models come with Exclusive SPIRIT R badge, new headlights, front fog lights and taillights with black bezels, red-finished brake calipers, sport suspension, and also 18-inch gun metallic alloy wheels shod in 225/45 R18 tires. While for the new additions for the interior, they are featuring Recaro bucket seats, a black leather trimming with contrasting red stitching, Leather-wrapped steering wheel and many more.
The new Mazda RX-8 SPIRIT R didn't offer any performance upgrade over the standard RX-8. These models will go on sale in November 24 and will be limited to only 1,000 units.
