Nissan just unveiled its first hybrid vehicle with an in-house hybrid technology in Japan, the car is the Fuga Hybrid or will be known as 2012 Infiniti M Hybrid in the U.S when it makes its North American debut at the 2010 Los Angeles International Auto Show.
The Fuga Hybrid is a gas-electric luxury sedan which is manufactured under the Infiniti M35h name. It makes uses of ‘Intelligent Dual Clutch Control’ system which connects the high-response electric motor along with the 3.5-liter VQ35HR V6 powertrain directly to the transmission. Intersetingly it is not using a traditional torque converter for it.
The ‘HM34′ electric motor offers a maximum power output of around 50kW (68PS) and maximum torque of 270Nm. This electric motor has driving range of up to 62 mph (100km/h) on a level highway. It also has SU-LEV certification, providing off 75% less exhaust over the 2005 standards. This Fuga Hybrid gas-electric luxury sedan is the anti-hybrid, it is rated at 45 mpg rating under Japanese test methods (around 32 mpg in U.S. standard.)
The Fuga Hybrid is priced from 5.78 million yen or around ($71,500 U.S.) and will be hitting Japanese dealerships next week.
