The next generation Rogue is reportedly to be produced in the U.S. following remarks by Carlos Tavares, Nissan Americas executive. The reasonably priced mid-size crossover might be produced at Nissan's Smyrna, Tennessee plant in 2013, moving from Nissan's plant in Kyushu, Japan.
There are lots of reason for The Rogue production in stateside, one and the biggest is money and volume. Carlos Tavares said that the increased value of the Yen against US dollar is a big reason, and by moving production would make even more sense considering the auto manufacturer intends to make 100,000 units of the CUV each year. Nissan got a $1.4 billion loan from the Energy Department to build the Tennessee factory on the condition that it builds 150,000 Nissan Leafs as well as another 200,000 battery packs every year.
